    Annabel Fay [2007]
Show Me The Right Way [2011]

She was born a performer. With a voice that was brewing inside her as long as she could remember life itself, Annabel Fay always wanted to sing. Referring to it as her fulltime love, it would seem that there wasn't ever really any other path that she would have pursued except for music.

It has been four years since the 2007 release of her debut self titled album, and four years have aged Fay's vocals with strength, style and a renewed vigour as she releases her second album 'Show Me The Right Way' in New Zealand on April 11 2011.

'I think in my first album I was quite confused about what I wanted to do. I knew that I liked a lot of different styles of music but didn't really know what my sound was. Now with 'Show Me The Right Way' I still feel it covers different genres, but it all seems to make sense. I guess I have grown up since my last album and so has my music.'

The album sounds more mature, with a depth in songs flitting between pop, soul and dance with R & B flavours. Annabel Fay really has found her voice on 'Show Me The Right Way' and seems to be enjoying it. From the Eastern murmurs of the intro in the title track, to the groove and attitude of 'Love's A Bitch' to the first single 'River' we see a pop singer with purpose, but not afraid to lay her emotions out for the world to see.

The irresistible melody and distinctive sound of Fay's voice on 'River' combine to make a pure pop song loaded with soul, one that debuted in the top ten on the national singles chart. The stunning music video was recorded in Havana, Cuba and shot by MTV award winning Australian director Anthony Rose.

Although Annabel had already penned an albums worth of new songs in the time since the release of her debut, she opted for working together in writing more music with Darren Lewis and Tunde Babalola from Future Cut and Jack Macmanus who joined her in New Zealand to throw ideas together to finalise the bare bones of the songs.

Produced by Greg Haver, who gave Fay the impetus to contact Future Cut in the first place, the album was shaped from start to finish over a 2 year period with the majority of it recorded in Auckland at the legendary York Street Studios. Although Fay had originally planned to work with Future Cut for only two weeks, the duo happily stayed for much longer to assist Haver and Fay in the creative concoction of the album.

'The messages are very different, and overall it has bit more refinement and a little bit more complexity to it. It is still pop music, but I have tried a different take on things. Some of the ballads in the album call for the typical orchestral crescendo moments, but I have ignored them and instead added hip-hop style muted drums.'

The success of her debut album was unmistakeable, having worked on it with one of the world's top producers in Brady Blade. The Sweden dwelling American who can cite Bob Dylan, Dave Matthews, Emily Lou Harris and Jewel amongst his colleagues and collaborators, pushed Fay to maximum and helped her show that she was a young songstress to be reckoned with. Her first single "Lovin' You Baby" achieving Top 10 status in both the singles charts and the radio charts, and the second single 'Strong' following suit.

'Show Me The Right Way' picks up from where her debut left off, and then runs away into the distance with more soul, balladry and fizzing energy than Fay has ever had, even though music has been her life and part of her main focus since she was a child.

"My entire life, I've wanted to write songs, perform and sing. It's been in my blood since I can remember. When I was little my parents enrolled me in the 'Mary Poppins' musical at my school. It was a production only meant for seniors! I got the part and then made them watch me practice every day. It was great. I was a six-year-old bird-woman and everyone else in the production was 16!"

With unforgettable live performances at Rhythm and Vines, opening for Westlife and harnessing the energy of their 15,000 screaming fans, and sharing the stage with members of Def Leppard to sing a Crowded House song at one of her own shows, Annabel Fay is as much a live performer as a studio professional.

Channelling the power of influences right across the spectrum including legends of the past Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Marlena Shaw, Billie Holiday and the Who, and contemporary artists Nikka Costa, Sia, Katy Perry and Florence and the Machine, Annabel Fay appreciates and loves music. Waking up to it, going to sleep to it, and creating it.

'Show Me The Right Way' is the next natural step for a young woman with a voice not to be forgotten, and an exciting and vibrant album which is going to turn heads anywhere and everywhere it is played.
