    Biography

Anouk Teeuwe was born at 8 april 1975, in Den Hague, the Netherlands. Her interest in music started already when she was young because her mother was a singer in a bluesband. Anouk learned to sing and in 1994 she was accepted in the Conservatorium in Rotterdam without any theoretical knowledge. After 2 years she stopped her training. Anouk sang at weddings and parties with the band Shotgun Wedding, where she met Barry Hay from the Golden Earring. Barry Hay offered to write her some songs. This lead to the song "Mood Indigo" that was written and produced together with the Earringmember Goerge Kooymans.

When Anouk got to know her co-writer Bart van Veen in 1997 her second single got produced. The single "Nobody's Wife" was the big breaktrough for Anouk. After the single also her debut album "Together Alone" was released. Barry Hay and Goerge Kooymans were responsable for this album and for Anouk's carreer. Later this year the single "It's So Hard" came out. In 1998 Anouk played on a lot of festivals including Pinkpop and Parkpop. In november 1999 her second album "Urban Solitude" was released. With the single "R U Kiddin' Me" the album reached number one in the Top 100.

In february 2001 Anouk's new single "Don't" was released and she started the AA – Semi Acoustic Tour that crossed the Netherlands. In the end of march 2001 the album "Lost Tracks" came out. On 6 november 2002 the album "Graduated Fool" came out. Rosso took care of the videoclip for the single "I live for you", and also made the clip for "The Dark". In 2004 the album "Update" was released, together with the DVD "Close Up" that contained live music from festivals.

In 2005 Anouk gave some concerts in Rotterdam and Antwerp that were sold out very fast. After that she moved to her second house in Ohio in the USA. In 2006 Anouk produced the live DVD "Anouk is Alive" and pronounced a festivaltour. Also outside the Netherlands Anouk became famous. Besides the Benelux she also got popular in Israël and Turkey. In Albania she even reached number one with the single "One Word".

In the summer of 2007 Anouk produced her fifth studialbum "Who's Your Momma" together with the american producer John Ballard. In november 2007 the first single from the album was released, called "Good God". The single became a megahit in Belgium and the Netherlands and also the clip, produced by Jonas Äkerlund, became a TMF superclip. When the album itself was released, it almost seemed to lead to an international breaktrough. The album reached first place in the Album Top 100. After some problems with her band, Anouk recruited a new and younger band, also known as the players of the band King Jack. In january 2008 the second single "I don't wanna hurt" came out and she played the "Who's Your Momma Tour" in Antwerp and Arnhem. The tickets were sold out in a few days. In march 2008 she produced the videoclip for her third single "Modern World" in Los Angeles. The song reached number one in Turkey.

After a boy in Norway performed the song "Lost" from Anouk's album Hotel New York in a talentshow, the song became a big hit in Norway. Anouk wanted to go to Norway to make promotion but her labelcompany EMI Music didn't wanna lett her go. Because of that succes the album "Who's Your Momma" got released in Norway with "Lost" as an extra track. Also America picked up the single "Lost" because of the programme So you think you can dance?

In july 2009 Anouk ended the cooperation with some members of her band: Angelo De Rijke, Memru Renjaan and Boaz Kroon. Both gitarists were replaced by Martijn Van Agt and Leendert Haaksma who played in her band before. The bassist got replaced by Glenn Gaddum who played with Postman. In august 2009 Anouk played the first single of her new album "For Bitter Or Worse" on the Lokerse Feesten in Belgium, called "Three Days in a Row". The videoclip of this single is made together with Kenneth Hope. The single was relesased 28 august 2009. Earlier that summer Anouk also surprised her fans with another single of that album, called "Today", wich they could download for free. The new album "For Bitter Or Worse" has been in the stores since 18 september 2009. The track "Woman" was the second single of the album "For Bitter Or Worse" and was released 27 november 2009.

Anouk thinks that the album "For Bitter Or Worse" is an immensely rich and varied album that sounds more soulful than ever before. Some of the lyrics reflect the hard times she had, but they also contain fictional pieces. The track "For Bitter Or Worse" is the first song she wrote after her divorce with Postman. The first single "Three Days In A Row" goes about her new boyfriend Unorthadox. They knew eachother briefly nine years ago under the production of the music video Michel. Anouk noticed her voice has grown with every new album.

On 20 May 2011 the album "To Get Her Together" was released. It's an album with a story. It contains songs dealing with the break-up of a relationship and includes doubt, sorrow and anger. To get this masterpeace together she worked together with Ryan Leslie and Reggie 'Syience' Perry who produced beats wich Anouk transformed into her own taste. Also the Swedish producers Tore Johansson and Martin Gjerstad where a part of the new album again who also cooperated on the previous album "For Bitter Or Worse". Besides that Anouk changed the melody and lyrics from Abel's Onderweg into her own story just because she loves that song so much. But the songs of the album are not only about the last two years, it also contains feelings of many previous years. For each listener "To Get Her Together" will have its own story. About that crazy dance with "Any Younger", about the tears with "What Have You Done" and the clenched fists with "Better Off Alone". Again an amazing piece of art!
