    Biography

    Tim Lambesis - Vocals
    Jordan Mancino - Drums
    Clint Norris - Bass
    Phil Sgrosso - Guitar
    Nick Hipa - Guitar

In early 2001 vocalist Tim Lambesis began writing music and lyrics for what would become As I Lay Dying. After meeting up with guitar player Evan White and drummer Jordan Mancino the group decided to move forward as a three piece. A month later they hit the studio to record "Beneath the Encasing of Ashes" released on Pluto Records in June 2001. Following its release, the band completed a number of tours. Through persistence and hard work "Beneath the Encasing of Ashes" became the top selling Pluto release.

Ready to move forward, As I Lay Dying recorded five songs for a split release with American Tragedy. The evolved follow up caught the attention of a number of people including various record labels. After a 70-day summer tour, the band came home to prepare for the things ahead. In March of 2003 As I Lay Dying signed with Metal Blade Records while recording a full length entitled "Frail Words Collapse."

This 12-song release features dynamic improvements in both songwriting and musicianship. "Frail Words Collapse" (July 1, 2003) is full of brutal and emotionally driven songs that transition seamlessly from precise melodies to neck snapping rhythms.

With the rigorous tour schedule a new record demands, Tim Lambesis and Jordan Mancino decided to solidify the lineup. After touring with a number of fill ins, As I Lay Dying became complete with the addition of musicians Clinton Norris, Phil Sgrosso, and Nicholas Hipa. See As I Lay Dying on the road always.

As I Lay Dying is not the type of band to let their music become stagnant. Instead they strive to make the best music they can while constantly pushing themselves to the limits. Their songs are not written to achieve mainstream success, but to express their passion and gratitude for what they do. Their debut Metal Blade release titled Frail Words Collapse delivers 12 brutal and emotionally driven songs that are sure to capture both metal and hardcore audiences alike. Transitioning seamlessly from precise melodies to neck snapping rhythms Frail Words Collapse has undoubtedly become one of the year's heaviest and most memorable records.

Already known as road warriors by fans and bands alike, As I Lay Dying have been touring relentlessly since a month before the albums release on July 1, 2003. Touring with acts like Chimaira, Soilwork, Sworn Enemy, Haste, Bleeding Through, Every Time I Die, label mates Six Feet Under and The Black Dahlia Murder, As I Lay Dying have shown that they will stop at nothing to show everyone what they are about, the music. Known for being one of the most energetic bands out on the road As I Lay Dying performs every song with the same raw emotion that went into the recording. Making so many new fans just off a single live show As I Lay Dying is clearly taking a hold of the underground scene. With a video for 94 Hours in constant rotation on both MTV2's Headbangers Ball and FUSE's Uranium As I Lay Dying has been catching attention and turning heads all over the US! The band also held onto the #1 spot for most downloaded metal song on MP3 for over 6 months before the site closed down in December. Without a doubt AILD is not a band to be ignored and 2004 will undeniably be the year that As I Lay Dying will dominate the scene by touring through the end of the year and working on material for a new album.
