AboutBilly (real name Bill Kaulitz) is a German singer & lyricist, born on September 1, 1989 in Leipzig, formerly in East Germany. He has a twin brother, guitarist Tom Kaulitz. Both are part of the rock band Tokio Hotel.
The Kaulitz brothers grew up in Loitsche, a village near Magdeburg. Their parents divorced when they were 6, so it inspired the song "Gegen Meinen Willen". At 6, Bill started writing lyrics & discovered Nena during one of her concerts.
The twins' mother married Gordon Trümper, a rock guitarist. He taught Tom how to play the guitar. At 10, Bill & Tom wrote the songs "Leb' Die Sekunde" & "Schrei (So Laut Du Kannst)".
In 2001, Bill & Tom met bassist Georg Listing & drummer Gustav Schäfer in Magdeburg. Their first band was named Devilish. Producer Peter Hoffman remarked them during one of their shows. In 2005, Devilish officially became Tokio Hotel & signed to Island / Mercury (Universal).
On March 30, 2008, Bill underwent surgery to remove a cyst on his vocal cords. He resumed Tokio Hotel's 1000 Hotels European Tour on May 3.
From 2008 to 2009, Bill wrote more than 40 songs & worked with his brother for 25 songs. They have also collaborated with David Jost, The Matrix & Guy Chambers. 16 of the 25 songs have been chosen for Tokio Hotel's third album Humanoid. The first single has been "Automatisch" (German) & "Automatic" (English).
In 2010, during Milan's Fashion Week, Bill appeared as a model for the first time, for the Dsquared² brand. 5 suits have been designed for his stage appearances.
In February 2011, the twins flew to Los Angeles, CA. Bill featured on Far*East Movement's "If I Die Tomorrow", taken from their album Dirty Bass.
In 2016, Bill started his solo career as Billy, with the single "Love Don't Break Me".
