AboutHailing from Derry, New Hampshire, Brendan James is a tremendous talent, channeling old soul into his youthful, charming songs. James spent his early music career playing at New York City open mics before he signed to Capitol Records in 2005. At Capitol he spent a year and a half recording his debut album, but was dropped before its release during the Capitol Records/Virgin Records merger in 2007. After leaving Capitol, he self-produced and released an EP, The Ballroom Break-in. He signed to Decca Records in 2008 and has released two studio albums with the label. His debut album, The Day is Brave, was released in 2008, while his self-titled second album, Brendan James, came out in 2010. He has toured nationally to support the albums, including tours with artists such as Jason Reeves, John Mayer, Tyrone Wells, Matt White, and Amber Rubarth. Though his music may inspire thoughts of such artists as Damien Rice, Jason Mraz and James Taylor, you'll find his rich, full-bodied voice to be all his own.
With the release of his debut album, The Day Is Brave, on June 3rd, 2008, James has been making a mark for himself in the music industry. He has been featured in Newsweek, Perez Hilton, Entertainment Magazine, Page Six, the season finale of the hit ABC show Private Practice and reached #5 on the iTunes pop charts.
Each of the eleven superb tracks on The Day Is Brave are beautifully melodic. But unlike many of his peers, James doesn't neglect the importance of his words. The lyrics are meaningful and drenched in emotion, clearly so personal to their author, and yet easily relatable to his audience.
