Chet (real name Thierry Samoy) is a French lyricist & singer, born on June 18, 1970 in Lille, France. Son of footballer Charly Samoy, Chet moved at 7 to Rennes, the city of French 80's rock (Étienne Daho, Marquis De Sade & Marc Seberg). Then, he spent 10 years in Guadeloupe, where he learned tolerance. Back to Paris, France.
At 12, Chet started writing lyrics. He took the name Chet from Chet Baker. In 1996, he signed to Polydor/PolyGram (later Universal/Polydor), helped by Philippe Lerichomme (Jane Birkin's artistic director).
Released in 2000, his debut album L'Inébranlable was reggae, influenced by Gainsbourg's words. In 2002, L'Amour À La Française was pop & talked about love. In 2005, Hymne was a darker album, but better than the previous one. In 2008, his album Le Bois Du Génie included "Pépite Et Pépette", a duet with Olivia Ruiz.
