I am just an average guy who has obtained the American dream.
I was born in Canton, Illinois which is about 25 miles from the town of Peoria near the Illinois river. We lived in a small house my dad and grandfather built which ad no running water and an outhouse. We took our baths in a washtub. I weighed in at 10 lbs. 12 oz. As a kid I was a snotty little brat who just about drove my teachers nuts. Fortunately for them in 1952, I moved with my family to Phoenix, Arizona where I would grow up in the great Southwest. To earn spending money I picked cotton for 3 cents a lb., worked in the produce sheds, and bagged groceries for 65 cents an hour. I took printing in high school and began working in my brothers litho shop and doing free lance graphics while still a teenager. Printing and commercial art turned out to be the way I earned a living for a good many years. As a teenager I liked hotrods, girls, and cruising Central Avenue. Who didn't? I attended Phoenix Christian High School, dropped out to go to work full time in my junior year and received a GED at Phoenix College. Although I have attended numerous colleges, seminars, and have walls lined with beautiful certificates my favorite degree is the doctorate I received from UHK (University Of Hard Knocks). You may think this humorous but I believe learning through experience is the best education one can get. This also has aided me in creating my views regarding education. Schools of the future will not look anything like the ones I attended.
I have taken advantage of educational opportunities in the USA.
After graduation from Mt San Jacinto Community College I ran unsuccessfully for the College Board of Trustees. A group of us started the alumni association there in 1984. My primary business interests have been in publishing and real estate investment. I started a monthly magazine in 1973, a weekly shopper in 1976, and an international specialty column and cartoon syndicate in 1977. I am a past member of Sigma Delta Chi, The Society of Professional Journalists. I worked for CBS owned channel 2, then called KNXT, in Los Angeles as supervisor of printing and teleprompter services for The Big News in the early 60's. I quit that job to move to Riverside to attend La Sierra College to study theology. I worked as a missionary employee for 5 years at The Southeastern California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists before moving to Hemet to return to college and start my publishing business.
I am a believer of The Holy Bible and a follower of Jesus Christ.
I retired from publishing in 1991 and managed a few pieces of rental property that I had been able to aquire with some of the proceeds from the sale of my publications. I have no further interest in buying or developing more real estate. An experience while going to college of having a hard time renting an apartment led me to a buy rentals and rent them to low income families, singles, and people with pets. Even though this led to higher incidence of collection problems and even vandalism I have maintained this focus. I have represented myself in court, mostly in unlawful detainer actions many times and understand our judicial system. Recently, I rented a home to a single mom with five children while Habitat For Humanity built them a new house. They were living in a motel and couldn't qualify for housing. My rentals may not be the best, but they have provided shelter to hundreds of marginal tenants over the years as well as a good income for my family.
I am a family man and I understand the value of relationships.
I have 4 children by my first wife. Oldest daughter Vonnie, who with her husband Rick and 2 children own an engineering firm in Riverside, Danney Jr. is a boat captain on the island of Kauai, married to Susan and they have 2 grown children, my son Brad, divorced from Traci, 4 children, owns Ball Financial with offices in San Diego, and my baby Sheri who is a yoga trainer and bodywork therapist who lives in Marin County with her husband Rick. I am very proud of my kids and grandkids and love them very much. I thank God for them every single day. I now have 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. I have 2 brothers and a sister and my mother turns 98 May the 9th and is very healthy and lives in a retirement village in Phoenix.
I am a businessman and I understand the benefit of hard work.
I love old cars, tractors, and motorcycles. I have a 37 Chevrolet Panel truck that I just finished transforming into a street rod. I also have an old 32 Chevy 4 dr deluxe that I like to drive just the way it is. My cousin in Fresno builds Harleys and he completed redoing a 1979 FLH for me in March of 2001. My brother David just sold my 02 Yamaha 650 and he is getting the Harley ready to sell. I am now shopping for a newer ride. I have a Farmall F-12 tractor and just finished restoring a 1950 Case DC. I also have a John Deere which I picked up at the Tulare Agricultural auction. It's a 1948 BWF. Finished restring a 1926 Wallis 20/30 a couple of years ago. Now all I need is a 1937 Minneapolis Moline to complete my collection.

I'm a photographer and I collect vintage cameras and photographica. I like to enlarge and frame some of my better shots and give them to friends and family. I also sell them on the internet. I love getting my hands in raw clay. I like to hand build ceramic art pieces as well as turn out pots on the wheel. I sell these to raise funds for worthwhile causes and projects. I love to read. I've never been much of a fan of fiction or novels though. My leisure time is spent right here on the internet, attending theatre productions in San Diego, or just taking a ride out into the beautiful country in the car where I live here in The San Jacinto Valley.
I wholeheartedly embrace our political system but believe we can do better.
I've heard it said that if you want a different result then you must try a different method to reach that goal. If I ever run for elected office again I will offer a different choice to my friends, relatives, neighbors, and to all of the people who share my love for our "Golden State" and for America. I would bring together a team of individuals to work for the citizens. It seems it might be time for some new ideas.

One way to get fresh ideas out there is to run for office and be heard. I believe that my candidacy has influenced many of the leaders who I have come to know through the platform provided me in the partisan political arena. In any race it is all of the contestants who really win. It is only those who never enter the contest that lose. I am in the contest to be heard and to brainstorm with the best minds that I can find. It is my belief that the course of history can be changed by this type of interaction.
The Future ... I believe that I should pass on the things that I have learned.
I will be 72 years old on May the 18th, 2012. When I was in the midst of my holistic studies in the 90s which included many healing modalities, as well as learning about diet, herbs, excercise etc I had the urge to put together a plan that I called "The Modbiny Method" but never took it any further. Believing that now is the time to answer the call of the ministry of The Gospel, which was interupted in earlier years, I am doing a church start-up in a building I own here in Hemet. It will be supported by my other business interests, donations from the public, and a small thrift store. With God's help I plan to build a House Of Worship like no other in the side of a mouintain somewhere near Hemet. The purpose of the Welcome To Hemet Chapel, Mission, & Soup Kitchen is to help the people in the area while presenting The Gospel of Jesus Christ.
