    Biography :

Decyfer Down was originally formed in 1999 as Allysonhymn by guitarist Brandon Mills and drummer Josh Oliver. Formerly an acoustic outfit, the group eventually switched to a more rock-oriented sound. Josh Oliver's brother Caleb later joined the band as a bass player, followed in 2002 by guitarist Chris Clonts. His arrival gave the band "a new sound and purpose" and they began to play with mainstream artists such as Puddle of Mudd, Breaking Benjamin, Crossfade and Adema. The group's new sound called for a new name. "I kid you not...I opened the dictionary and there's the word decipher," Clonts says. "We have three pages of names and I open the dictionary and find this word."
The band has had six singles reach #1 on the Christian rock charts, and has toured nationally in support of their albums End of Grey, and Crash. In the fall of 2006, Decyfer Down joined Pillar on their "Days of The Reckoning Tour". The tour lasted from October through November and also featured Day of Fire, and The Showdown.
Decyfer Down toured with Skillet and Disciple in early/mid 2009, and is touring once again with Skillet, Hawk Nelson, and The Letter Black this fall.
