    Dick Van Dyke is an American actor, dancer and singer best known for his comedy Black and white 1960s TV show "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and the Murder Mystery TV show "Diagnosis: Murder" 1993. Dick Van Dyke is also well known for the Broadway plays including "The Girls against the Boys" "Bye Bye Birdie" and "The Music Man 1980" He also appeared as a Disney actor in Disney movies including "Mary Poppins" 1964, "Never a Dull Moment" and "Dick Tracy" 1990. He also played in Bye Bye Birdie and Chitty Chitty Bang, Curious Geroge 2006, Night at the Museum 1,2,3 .

    Van Dyke was born in the roaring 20's on December 13, 1925 in West Plains, Missouri but his family later moved to Danville, Illinois and lived during the Great Depression. Van Dykes mother was religious and wanted him to be a minister but Van Dyke wanted to be an entertainer. But Van Dyke did teach Sunday School at his Christian Church.

    When World War 2 broke out Dick Van Dyke decided to be a radio operator for the United States Army Air Corps and he also entertained the American soldiers.

    After the war was over Van Dyke continued his carrier as a radio DJ until 1947 when his friend Phil Erickson asked him to mime in a show called "Eric and Van—the Merry Mutes." and later "The Merry Mutes"
    Dick got married to his first wife named Margie Willett.

    Later on Dick Van Dyke would appear as a guest actor in CBS TV shows called "Chance of a Lifetime", and "The Phils Silver show". He also appeared on a 1959 Broadway play called "The Girls Against the Boys" and "Bye Bye Birdie."

    Then in 1961 Dick Van Dyke launched a CBS comedy TV show called "The Dick Van Dyke Show" which ran for 5 seasons. He also was in a movie version called "Bye Bye Birdie" 1963 which he wasn't happy with the movie adaptation version.

    Then in 1964 the Disney company invited Dick Van Dyke to play in the Disney musical "Mary Poppins" 1965 which he played both roles, Bert the Chimney sweeper and bank chairman Mr. Dawes Senior. He was in the movie with the actress Julie Andrews singing songs "Chim Chim Cher-ee" and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" that the Sherman Brothers wrote. Dick Van Dyke won the award for best song. He also was in the Disney movie "Never a dull moment" and other less successful movies including What a Way to Go!, Lt. Robin Crusoe, U.S.N., Fitzwilly, The Art of Love, Some Kind of a Nut, and Divorce American Style.

    Then in 1968 Dick Van Dyke was in a movie called "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" which he played as Caractacus Pott in the Hollywood musical "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" also known for the flying car. He played with the actress Sally Ann Howes.

    Later on Van Dyke appeared in The New Dick Van Dyke Show on CBS which wasn't successful so he ended it after 3 seasons. He also told people he struggled with drinking alcohol for 25 years before giving it up. He also was a voice actor in Hanna Barbera's cartoon show "The New Scooby Doo Movies", he was also a guest actor in The Carol Burnett Show, Matlock, and The Golden Girls. Then in 1984 Dick Van Dyke divorced his wife Margie Willett. He later married Arlene Silver until her death in 2012.

    Then in 1990 he appeared in a Disney movie called Dick Tracy. Then in 1993 Van Dyke appeared in a murder mystery called "Diagnosis: Murder" which ran for 8 seasons. He also got into 3D computer animation.

    Van Dyke was in a CGI movie called Curious George. and was in the movies Night at the Museum 1,2,3. In 2010, Van Dyke appeared on a children's album titled Rhythm Train, with Red Hot Chili Peppers and performed a rap song for the album.

    In 2013 Dick Van Dyke was in a car accident on the freeway when his car caught on fire. He was rescued and was grateful to be alive.
