Salman Albert

Behind every song you'll find a production team which remains mostly unknown to the audiences. However, the fact is that one cannot be without the other, as majority of stars are not skilled musicians but physically attractive models selling their brand of music. With the growing awareness and demand for quality onstage and in-studio human live performances, session musicians are now being recognized as key players in construction and onstage live performances.
One such 'behind the scenes' artist is the multi-skilled Salman Albert. Proficient on the guitar, drums, bass and vocals, Albert is also an expert in lyrics writing, music arrangements and audio productions. The biggest Pakistani hit song 'Aadat' features Albert on music arrangement, drums and acoustic guitar. The repertoire of artists Albert has worked with is immense and the work diverse. From playing drums for local English rock band co-VEN's Volume II to writing jingles, theme/title songs and background scores, to touring the UK, USA, Canada, Norway, UAE, Bangladesh, Nepal and India alongside EP, Junoon, Jal and MHB, Albert is your all-in-all music handyman. He has a studio majorly set up by brother Farhan Albert who's also a very well known musician & producer. A meeting with Albert can give birth to your dream song with you having to do almost nothing creative for it.
Albert's childhood was spent amongst one of the first music heroes of Pakistan; a band called The Wanderers, which was the first ever band of Pakistan. Albert's uncle Sohail Bazel was the founding member. The Wanderers were a touring band, playing regular gigs at the then thriving pre-Zia club and bar scene. Albert's aunt Irene Perveen was a renowned movie playback singer & his dad, chachoos & mamoos all were multi talented musicians. Albert took inspiration from his family and in 1988 began performing with his own band Eastern Boys. Here Albert found the opportunity to test his hand on different instruments. His fellow members saw him excel at each instrument he picked up and supported him on improving his skills further.
EB was a cover band, performing mostly Indian songs at weddings (coz there was no media or opportunities for a band at that time) yet Albert was listening to everything from R.D. Burman to Metallica. In 1992 Albert joined Ahmed Ali Butt's band Entity which later transformed into the super energetic and hugely popular rock outfit EP. While drumming for EP Albert continued his session work and regularly performed onstage with Junoon, Jal, Noori and MHB. Albert has contributed to works by Atif, Jal, Rhythm X, Rubber Band, Shahzad Hameed, Omer Inayat, Usman Shani, Ali Roooh, Fariha Pervaiz, Sharique Roomi, Abbas Ali Khan, Doctor aur Billa, and many others. His corporate work includes Nestle, Lahore Marathon, Telemasti, Plan Pakistan, UNDP and UNESCO amongst others.
Albert is also known for his unique style of humor which won him a lead role in the reality style comedy television show 'Kuch Kar Ja Ya Ghar Ja'. The show featured a soft-spoken pokerfaced Albert telling real life stories. Albert's recent session work can be heard on Jal's latest album, Boondh where he plays live drums on seven tracks and has added to the musical arrangements on four songs.
In the new EP line up, Salman is playing guitars, doing backing vocals and contributing in the studio for the upcoming album. Salman's transition to the frontline is a healthy progression for the industry as a whole. It will hopefully help evolve the criteria of the 'run of the mill' pop/rock star.

Hassaan Khalid

Hassaan Khalid brings a positive attitude and energy to the band. He has been related to the music industry since the year 2000 and is one of the founder members of EP. Hassaan Khalid has made his name prominent as a guitar/bass and keyboard player. "Bring it On" is what he is all about.
Hassaan has his career focused on the youth of Pakistan. His personal initiative of Student's Blog Magazine has connected students from various universities and school campuses together – with that Studnt's Blog forms Pakistan's first student operated magazine (www.sblog.com.pk). Hassaan also runs University Consultants which is a professional counseling service for students wishing to study abroad.
