AboutFranklin White aka "Frank White", is an Australian-born (1946) ballad singer. With Ray Gurney and Murray Uhlmann, they formed the Babayaga Trio, performing at the Folk Centre, UQ Folk Club, ABC studios (Toowong) and other venues in Brisbane and the Gold Coast from 1963-65, culminating as the featured group act at a concert in Brisbane's old Albert Hall. They also recorded a radio commercial for Bundaberg Rum. Migrating to Canada in 1965, Frank added a one-man band act, often performing at the Montreal Folk Workshop, as well as guest artist for the ANZ Club, the Commonwealth Club, and Cable TV (Montreal), and on the west coast, the UVic Folk Music Club. He quit performing in 1970 to pursue a public health career, and maintains music as a hobby. In 2014, visiting Australia, he reconnected with Ray Gurney (now of the NSW ukelele scene) and "Frank n Ray" performed at the Bush Music Club (60th anniversary), and the Balmain Ukelele Club. As "a little known singer from the '60s" (Mudcat) he may pop up again.
