With as fresh approach to timeless material, GARY NICHOLS and The Ballistic Bovine Boys! focus on songs from the "golden era". During the 1930s to early 1960s people were enjoying swing, jazz, and western swing, along with country and cowboy music. Songs by Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer, and Nat King Cole were being played on the radio alongside Gene Autry, Eddy Arnold, Sons of The Pioneers, and Bob Wills.

Combining all of these uniquely American styles (while staying true to the songs' heritage), acoustically swinging instrumentation, excellent musicianship, Gary's uncanny knack whisting, and selecting only his personal favorite songs is what sets Gary and the band apart from other acts performing music.

The Ballistic Bovine Boys! are a fun and entertaining group. Gary's hometown paper, the Liberty Town Crier, describes Gary as, "...a gracious host at his own party", while the Albany Times (Albany NY) said, ..."Gary Nichols' blend of gregarious personality, confident stage manner, innovative guitar style, and powerful multi-octave voice made him an instant 'hit' with the audience."

While growing up in the Catskill Mountains of New York State, Gary listend to and appreciated all genres of music. Shortly after teaching himself to play guitar at 19, he was invited to join his first band, The Westones and became their rhythm guitarist, vocalist, and frontman.

After several years and lots of growing pains, Gary left The Westones and performed solo until meeting up with Mitch Powell, Dennis B Cotton, and Rob Stein to form Nichols Company Band (NCB).

NCB went on to play the area's biggest fairs, festivals, and concert halls; and was in demand as an opening act for the likes of Crystal Gayle, Asleep at the Wheel, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Alan Jackson, Patty Loveless, and others. Regional radio, print, and telvision media voted NCB as Hudson Valley's #1 Country Band, while Gary alone won several "In Tune" awards from the Times Herald Record's music editor, Stephen Israel, and took first place in the DreamMakers Country music competition.

Gary wasted no time when he moved to Nashville and quickly hooked up with A-team musicians to form The Ballistic Bovine Boys! (BBB). They have performed at the new Nashville Country Music Hall of Fame, the 75th Anniversary for the Grand Ole Opry, Chet Atkins Festival, Nashville Int'l Airport, and other local events, as well as numerous appearances on Nashville's NBC and CBS television.
