AboutFormerly known as Cherri Bomb, the original line up was an all-female hard rock band consisting of sisters Rena Lovelis (bass, backing vocals then later lead vocals) and Nia Lovelis (drums, percussion, backing vocals), Julia Pierce (lead vocals, lead guitar till 2013) and Miranda Miller (rhythm guitar, keyboards, backing vocals till 2017) which began from 2008-15.
As of 2013 to present day, Rena became the band's official lead singer.
It wasn't till 2015 when the band officially changed to Hey Violet and opted for more of a dance-pop, rock, EDM sound. They also recruited two male members to join the band, Casey Moreta and Iain Shipp.
In 2017, Hey Violet released their debut album, From the Outside which received minor commercial success but had positive reviews from critics. The first and lead single off the album, Guys My Age released on September 20, 2016, peaked at #68 on the Billboard Hot 100 music chart, #78 in Australia. The second single, Break My Heart reached #37 on US Mainstream Top 40 and the third and final single, Hoodie also debuted on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart, peaked at #33. This was the last album with Miranda as one of the founding members as she announced her departure on social media a few weeks prior to the album's release.
In 2019, Hey Violet officially announced that Iain Shipp had left the band and they became a trio. The band continued releasing a countless line of singles like Better By Myself which reached #37 on US Mainstream Top 40, Close My Eyes, Queen Of The Night and Clean.
After a two year hiatus without any new music, Hey Violet returned to the music scene in February 2021 with the single, Friends Like This.
