AboutJohnny Bristol (real name John William Bristol) was an American soul singer-songwriter, born on February 3, 1939 in Morganton, North Carolina and dead on March 21, 2004 in Howell, Brighton Township, Michigan.
Worked for Motown from 1959 to 1972 with the top selling acts of the roster like The Supremes, Smokey Robinson etc.
He also cut some singles in the early 60's as a duo with Jackey Beavers.
He then started working for CBS.
In 1974 he started his solo career with the notorious smash "Hang On In There Baby".
He released six solo albums from 1974 to 1993.
He last charting single was "My Girl/My Guy" his 1980 duet with Amii Stewart.
