She honestly refused that she had taken them but she was lying and she denied for many years. In 1932, The Gumm Sisters no longer exsisted and her eldest sister Mary left to New York City and Jayne her youngest elder sister left to Mississippi and young Frances was stuck on her own with her parents. In December 1932, Frances was in danger of loosing her life at age 12 because she took 90 tranquilizers, 69 barbituates & 9 packets of Paracetemol and she was lucky she survived that suicide attempt. From December 20 to December 23,1932, The Gumm family moved to Lancaster,California and on June 13, 1933 1 day after Frances's birthday. Her parents renamed after Robert Garland and his song Judy which ment she was renamed Judy Garland. From May 1935, She was an addict to drugs and pills but not alchohol yet.
