    Biography

    (Julie Andrews 1935-present)

    Julie Andrews is one of the most famous British actress and singers of all time. She is known for being in Broadway stage plays like "My Fair Lady" and known for Hollywood musical movies like "The Sound of Music" 1965. Thoroughly Modern Millie" and Disney movies like "Mary Poppins" 1964, "Princess Diaries 1 and Princess Diaries 2 with the Disney actress Anne Hathaway" and a voice actress in Dreamworks movies "Shrek 2" "Shrek 3" "Shrek 4" and in "Despicable Me 1"

    Julie Andrews was born on October 1, 1935 in a town called Walton-on-Thames in England. She lived with her mother Barbara Ward Wells and her father Ted Wells. The times were hard when Ted Wells divorced her mother and soon afterwards World War 2 broke out in 1939. Barbara Ward remarried Ted Andrews and moved to a new house. But the family was poor and Julie Andrews Stepfather Ted Andrews was violent and and was an alcoholic so Julie had to lock her her to keep her stepfather out.
    Later on as Julie Andrews parents staging carrier got better, they were able to move to a better house in Beckenham, England.
    Julies stepfather Ted Andrews sent Julie to a school at Cone-Ripman School and Julie practiced singing in her singing choir. Later on Julies mother Barbara discovered Julie Andrews amazing singing voice and Barbara Ward decided to have her daughter Julie sing on stage.

    After World War 2 was over, Julie Andrews performed on stage for 2 years from 1945 to 1947 with her parents. Then she got her big break and went to an Opera called "Mignon" and sang in her first Opera. Later on she would sing as the youngest solo at The British Royal Variety Performance with famous actor Danny Kaye for King George VI family. She also starred in fairy tale plays such as Jack in the Beanstalk, Humpty Dumpty, Little Red Riding Hood and Cinderella.

    In 1954 Julie Andrews went on to Broadway musical plays. Her first stage play was "The Boy Friend", Then she also starred in a Broadway musical "My Fair Lady". She was on television shows including "The Jack Benny Show."
    In 1959 Julie married her first husband Tony Walton a set designer.

    Then in 1960 Julie auditioned for the Warner Bros movie "My Fair Lady" but she was turned down and put the actress Audrey Hepburn in her place instead.
    Then in 1963 Walt Disney invited Julie Andrews to play as Mary Poppins in a Disney musical movie "Mary Poppins" with the actor Dick Van Dyke. After Mary Poppins was released in 1964, the Disney movie was a success and she won the Academy award for best actress. Then Julie got the part as Maria Von Trapp, in the Fox movie "The Sound of Music" 1965 which was also a success and she won her second Academy as best actress. She also starred a movie "Hawaii" and in the Alfred Hitchcock movie "Torn Curtain". She also starred in "Thoroughly Modern Millie" in 1967.

    Then in 1967 Julie Andrews divorced her husband Tony Walton. In 1968 she starred in movies like "Star" and "Darling Lili" but both of them were considered flops. She later married her second husband Blake Edwards in 1969. In 1970 she tried out for the Disney movie "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" but lost the role to Angela Lansbury. Julie was in a short lived CBS TV show "The Julie Andrews Hour" which ran for 1 season. She also made an appearance in Jim Hensons "The Muppet Show".

    In 1981 she starred in Hollywood movies Little Miss Marker and in her first adult Hollywood movie S. O. B. to poke fun of her clean image.
    She went on to singing in Broadway and she appeared in The Disney Channel concert in 1995.

    The year 1997 was the year Julie Andrews singing carrier came to an end when she went in for throat sugary which has ruined her singing vocal cords. She sued the doctor for the damage they've caused to her throat and won the lawsuit.

    Then Julie Andrews decided to make a comeback as an actress in a 2001 Disney movie "Princess Diaries 1" as Queen Clarisse Marie Renaldi with Anne Hathaway. She was also in the 2004 Disney sequel "Princess Diaries 2" with Anne Hathaway.

    She later became a voice actress for Dreamwork movies like "Shrek 2" "Shrek 3" and "Shrek ever after 4" and in the Universal movie "Despicable Me 1"

    On 15 December 2010 her second husband died and she became a widow.
    Today Julie Andrews is considered the most famous Disney Legend among Disney and Julie Andrews fans.
