    LFO [1999]

LFO (1995 - 2001) were an all American pop boy band. The band was formed in 1995 with members Rich Cronin, Devin Lima (born Harold Lima), and Brad Fischetti. Before Devin Lima joined the group in 1999, the third orginal member was Brian Gillis, known as "Brizz", who was with the group from its start in 1995. The band is best known for their hit songs "Summer Girls" and "Girl On TV."

The group was founded in 1995 with friends Rich Cronin and Brian Gillis, known as Brizz. The group was joined by an third member, an aspiring model Derek Bugley. The group together as threesome enjoyed moderate success with their hit singles "Summer Girls" and "The Way You Like It." They also had another hit called "If I Can't Have You", which missed the top 10, reaching #11 on the UK charts.

In 1999 Brizz left the group to pursue his solo career, while the remaining members still determined to make it big replaced Brizz with Devin Lima. The group decided that they should discontinue being called Lyte Funky Ones and use the name LFO exclusively instead. Among the songs LFO had recorded in an attempt to make a demo was a song called "Summer Girls". This song would change their lives, and give LFO their path to their mainstream success. The song was leaked to a friend at a radio station and was so catchy, LFO made it to the Billboard Hot 100. "Summer Girls" made its way to the Top 10 making it their first major hit in the US.

The group released their self-titled debut album LFO which sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide, and scored two Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100: "Summer Girls" and "Girl on TV". In 1999, "Summer Girls" was nominated for a Billboard Music Award for Top Selling Single of the Year; the song sold over 1.5 million copies in the U.S. This album featured many vocals from original member Brizz. The label loved the original versions of the records so much that they left all of the vocals from Brizz including leads on "If I Can't Have You". Their album was certified "Platinum" in US after selling a million copies.

The year 2000 was a busy year for LFO, featuring nonstop tours performing at over 230 concerts that year. They also served as opening act for Britney Spears and co-headlined Nickelodeon's All That Music & More summer tour. They also found success in the UK at the same time when "Girl on TV" entered the UK chart at #6. In 2000, the band won the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Group of the Year. Play Along Toys made dolls of the group in 2001.

In 2001 the group released their second album "Life Is Good." The album's success was no where matched to their debut album as it peaked at #75 on US album charts and sold only 300,000 copies worldwide. The album spawned 2 moderate hit singles "Life Is Good" and "Every Other Time" which peaked at #44 on Billboard Hot 100. Every Other Time was a huge hit on MTV's Total Request Live as well on radio.

After the lukewarm success of their second album the group members were left dismayed and they decided to quit. However rumors surfaced in 2006 that the band was in plans to record their third studio album but in a radio interview done in March 2007, Rich Cronin officially confirmed that the group was done.

Rich Cronin sadly passed away by myeloid leukemia at the age of 36, on September 8, 2010.
