Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Lourdes Robles has demonstrated her talents as an actress, composer and singer.
She started singing as one half of the duo "Lourdes and Carlos" in the 1980's, but they parted ways after making only two recordings. This despite a quality voice with wide range.

Robles had better luck acting, first on a television show called "Barrio Cuatro Calles"and then opposite Chayanne in a TV series called "Generaciones". She also worked in four Spanish-language musicals and two more, that she sang in English: "Hello Dolly!" and "The Fantasticks".

Meanwhile Robles worked hard to develop her talents as a singer and composer. She did very well at the 1985 Festival del Sol in Miami, Florida, where won an award for her song "No Soy Distincta". Her success there brought her to the attention of reknown Puerto Rican singer Danny Rivera and the local press. She released her debut album with hits songs "Tu Llegaste" and "Hasta Ahora".

Success brought more success as Sony took notice and signed the fledgling Robles to a recording contract. She made eight recordings for the Sony label starting with "Tentación" en 1988.

Robles joined many other Puerto Rican music artists such as Tito Lara, Antonio Cabán Vale, Glenn Monroig, Lucecita Benítez, Ednita Nazario, Yolandita Monge, Lunna, Wilkins, Sophy and Menudo, to produce two albums as part of a national anti-drug campaign, "Pan del Pais" in 1989. She was in very good company; a sign she had made her name.

The multi-talented Robles also tried her hand at composing and met with success there too in 1992 when two recording with her own compositions: "Corazón en blanco" and "Es él" became hits and each went gold. They included hit songs such as "Abrázame fuerte", "Lo amo", "Corazón en blanco" and Sola, which appeared on her album, Desde El Principio. Her talent and efforts clearly worked; vaulting her to the top of the charts and wide-spread popularity as one of the leading ladies of popular music.

In that same year Robles also performed together with salsa stars Gilberto Santa Rosa and Andy Montañez, along with pop music stars Lucecita, Carmita Jiménez, Danny Rivera, Chucho Avellanet and José Juan Tañón, in a mega concert to commemorate 500th anniversary of the discovery of the new world by Columbus.

Robles was one of many talented Puerto Rican artists that contributed to the annual video produced by El Banco Popular with a different musical theme each year. She sang in "Un Pueblo Que Canta", produced in 1993, along with José Feliciano, Danny Rivera, Lucecita Benítez, Glenn Monroig, Ednita Nazario, Willie Colón, Lunna, Gilberto Santa Rosa, El Gran Combo, and others.

Just two years later, Robles was involved in another project, this one called "Hey Jude: Tributo a Los Beatles", in which she sang "El largo caminar"; the Spanish version of the hit Beatles tune, "The Long and Winding Road". Other major pop stars such as Ricky Martin, Yuri, Magneto, Ilan Chester and Néstor Torres joined her in that effort.

Robles signed with Polygram near the end of the 1990's and released Cielo de acuarela. The album, directed and produced by Oscar Gómez, was noted for the wide ranging mix of musical styles, from rumba to salsa, but all tropical. It was also noted for having been produced in several countries: most instrumentation in the United States; percussion and keyboards in the Dominican Republic; and vocals in Spain.

After a short period out of the limelight, Robles came back in 2000 with a hit ballad "Lo Odio" and new album produced by Guillermo Torres. She followed-up with a concert performkance in San Juan, apparently ready and determined to make her mark in the music world well into the new millenium.
