In the commotion of the ever changing indie rock scene, tranquil and refreshing ambient sextet Lydia arise poised. Boasting soft male vs. female vocals over a moody, introspective wall of sound led by melodic guitars and keys, this group of high school friends have garnered some serious buzz in the underground with their compelling songs and tender approach. Formed in 2003 in Gilbert, AZ, the band underwent a few shake-ups before settling on its current roster: lead vocalist/ guitarist Leighton Antelman, back up vocalist/ keyboardist Mindy White, guitarists Steve McGraw and Ethan Koozer, bassist Evan Aranbul and drummer Craig Taylor. In 2004, Lydia won a contest with Blink-182 owned Atticus Clothing, resulting in their appropriately titled track "Smile, You've Won" being included on the Atticus compilation Drag the Lake, Vol. 3. Their debut album, This December: It's One More and I'm Free was released on HourZero that following year, and Lydia hit the open road with notable slots on the Zumiez Couch Tour, Vans Warped Tour and Bamboozle Festival. Since signing to Linc Star Records in 2007, Lydia have been hard at work on their much anticipated sophomore release. Look for Illuminate in March 2008, and look for Lydia on tour and in your favorite music magazines.
The band returned in September 2011 with a new song, "Dragging Your Feet in the Mud". An album, Paint it Golden, was released in October, 2011. The band released a cover of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" on December 20, 2011.
The band supported The Maine on their 2012 Spring/Summer tour. They were featured with Arkells and The Maine on a cover of The Beatles "With A Little Help From My Friends" that was released on May 1, 2012 on Spotify and featured two live tracks on The Maine's The Pioneer North American Tour Live EP.
They spent the end of 2012 recording their new album and going to a west coast winter tour. To accompany the tour, they released the Acoustics EP. On January 28, 2013, they announced new tour dates and a March 19, 2013 release date for their new album Devil. They released their first single from the album, "Knee Deep" the next day.
