AboutMidnight Choir was founded in 1992. At the time, they had a different name - Hashbrowns. The members are:
Paal Flaata - Vocals, Guitar
Atle Bystrøm (Olsen) - Guitars and most other things
Ron (Bystrøm) Olsen - Basses
Atle and Ron are brothers, but they use different surnames.
They all come from Skien, but to get their musical career up and going, they moved to Oslo.
It was originally a drummer in the band too, but he disappeared after a fight they had in Sweden when they still were street musicians. Untill 1999 they had no regular drummer.
In 1993 they were discovered by Lasse Hafreager, and signed to a Sonet label called Fjording. Some on that label meant that the name Hashbrowns wasn't working for them, and convinced them to change their name. The band landed on Midnight Choir, wich is taken from the song "Bird on the wire" by one of their favorite singers, Leonard Cohen.
