Mourning Maxwell, consisting of Alex Kling, Derek Smith, Kyle Rodgers, and Ryan Miller, is an Arizona based rock band.
They spent their first two years playing countless shows throughout the southwest under the name of Slowpoke.
While sharing the stage with such acts as Yellowcard, RX Bandits, and Finch, the band sold over 4,000 copies of their debut full length, "Yesterday's Gone." 2003 was a year for change within the group.
The band changed its name to Mourning Maxwell and their original bassist and drummer left to pursue careers outside of the music industry.
The band quickly re-grouped, finding a new bassist and drummer.
Now with their line-up secure, the band has been working hard at spreading their sound, touring the country for a month on the 2003 Vans Warped Tour, as well as several self-booked tours throughout the US .

In 2004 the band released their newest effort, "Our Collective Voice", produced by Bob Hoag (The Format, The Bled, Scary Kids Scaring Kids).
The seven song enhanced EP was released on Hourzero Records, on May 7, 2004 at a release show packed with over 900 in attendance.
Soon after the release, Mourning Maxwell toured the US and Canada on the Vans Warped Tour in support of their new EP, selling almost 5,000 copies along the way.
In November, the band will be on tour with such acts as My American Heart, Bleed the Dream, The Q, and Yesterday's Rising.
