Pat Metheny is a younger brother of Mike Metheny He is a Synthesizer Jazz guitarist best known for songs including "Are you going with me", "It's just talk", "Third Wind", "This is not America", "Slip Away" and many others.
His music is often played on The Weather Channel. He was influenced by many musicians including Miles Davis, Wes Montgomery, Glenn Miller Band, the Beatles. He also formed the Jazz band "Pat Metheny Group".
He received many music awards for best Jazz music.
Early Childhood years
Pat Metheny was born on in Kansas City on August 12, 1954 into a musical family. His mother sang, his father played the trumpet, his brother Mike Metheny taught him how to play the trumpet. Pat started playing the Trumpet when he was 8 years old. He was inspired by musicians including Wes Montgomery, Miles Davis.
Pat later showed interest in playing the guitar at the age 12 after watching and listening to The Beatles perform, he would later on in his life play some of their songs on his guitar. He continued to play the guitar.
When Pat was 15 years old, he went to a 1 week Jazz camp in Kansas City and met Attila Zoller who taught him how to play guitar better. Later on he was sent to New York where he met the guitarist Jim Hall and bassist Ron Carter.
One day while playing in a Jazz club, he was met by Bill Lee from the University of Miami who offered him a scholarship which he tried out, but found out he was unprepared for class. He then told Bill Lee about and was instead offered a job as a music teacher. He became a music teacher in the University of Miami at the age 18, the youngest teacher at that time and 1 year later at the Berklee College of Music and later on received an honorary doctorate in 1996

In 1974 he played with Gary Burton at the Jazz Clubs, and then he released his first music album "Bright Size Life" in 1975 and reinvented synthesizer Jazz.
Later on Pat formed a Jazz group called "Pat Metheny Group" and toured in American playing at Jazz concerts and released his second album "Pat Metheny Group", he also released "American Garage" and is best noted for the song "Lone Jack" he also released "As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls"
Pat stared receiving Jazz music awards from his 1982 album "Offramp" most notably for his songs "Are you Going with me", "James". He also released a song "This Is Not America" performed with David Bowie in 1984.
Pat got many music awards for his albums "First Circle" 1984 and his albums "Still Life (Talking)" 1987 with songs "It's Just Talk", "Last Train Home", "Third Wind" He also got a music award for the album "Letter from Home" 1989 with the song "Slip Away" which became best Jazz music of all time and also from his albums "Secret Story" and "We Live Here", "Imaginary Day" 1997, "Speaking of Now" 2002, "The Way Up" 2005
The Weather Channel TV station then played Pat Metheny's best known songs on TV in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s.
Pat recorded music with his brother Mike Metheny on his albums "Day In – Night Out" 1986, "Close Enough for Love" 2001.
In 1994 Pat Metheny released an album called "Tolerance for Silence" which is notable for screeching rock guitar music which has gotten mixed reviews including negative ones from both music critics and fans for his departure from Jazz music. Pat explained that he was experimenting with the music.
Today Pat continues to go on music tours and play Jazz music concerts.
