Pretend Eyes is a collaborative project by Ben Peck of The Oedipus Complex and Vincent "Speed" Pittmann of Skar. The group formed as an outlet for writer's block from Peck and Pittmann while residing in California and features work from members of Fallacy, The Oedipus Complex, Lung Cancer, Room 502, Always Next Year, She Wants Revenge, 39 Used and Brian Aversoll. Songs were often previewed through the internet during the recording process of the first album.

The first single released was "Nirvana", which was given away on the group's website in August. The song reached #21 on the US Alternative chart, #23 on the US Mainstream Rock chart and #35 on the US Rock Tracks chart.

On September 10, 2012, the group performed covers of Velvet Underground's "Heroin" and Porcupine Tree's "Pure Narcotic" on the Jimmy Fallon show.

The group's album "Exploitation of Modern Technology" was released on September 25, 2012. It sold 17,000 copies in the first week, debuting at #18 on the charts in the US.

Pretend Eyes went on a 14 date tour in September of 2012. In October of 2012, Richard Janowski replaced V.S. Pittmann for the final 5 dates when he went to record Skar's album Dystopia. As of 2013 Pretend Eyes is on hiatus; Skar have released Dystopia in June of 2013 and have been on tour since and The Oedipus Complex will release new music and go on tour again in 2014. Contributor Scott Rivas has been announced as the replacement for departing Skar bassist Andrew Bellamy.

    Ben Peck
    V.S. Pittmann (9 dates until October 2012)
    Chris Ponting
