Mamma always walked in just around midnight
couldn't catch a wink, till her boy was fast asleep
Daddy always said, "Let me know before you go to bed"

Pappa grabs the flashlight to brighten up this dark night
wants to take a walk, senses that it's time to talk
talkin on the phone, mamma knows her boy feels so alone
he's been havin' quite a day, so she asks if they can pray

And then she says, "Jesus, my baby is struggling,
yeah he's in quite a trial, it may last a little while,
but I pray he makes it out alright,

Baby's gone to college now he's living on his own
