    Standing On My Own [2008]

Shiri Maimon (born May 18, 1981) is an Israeli singer and actress. She won second place in the TV reality show Kokhav Nolad ("A Star is Born") (the Israeli version of the British Pop Idol), and represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005. In 2005, Maimon took part in the Kdam Eurovision, the pre-Eurovision song contest at which Israel's national entry is selected, and was not the favorite to win. Against the odds, she won first place, scoring 116 out of 120 points for her performance of Hasheket Shenish'ar. Thus she became the Israel's representative at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev.

Maimon initially rebuffed suggestions that parts of the song should be performed in English. In the end, considering that foreign language songs had not been successful in the past, she agreed to sing half in Hebrew and half in English. She placed fourth in the contest, winning 154 points.

In September 2005, Shiri released her eponymous debut album, which went gold within a few months, selling over 20,000 copies.

Since March 2006, Maimon has appeared on the soap opera Yeladot Ra'ot (Bad Girls) on the Israeli Music Channel. Maimon plays the role of Maya Gold, a talented singer and recording star trying to balance her career and her love life with caring for her drug addicted brother.

In December 2006, Maimon moved to London where she is working on two new albums - an English-language album geared toward an international audience, and her second Hebrew album. Both will include songs she has written and composed.

In December 2007, Maimon's website announced the release of a new single, "Yoter Tov Lisloach" (It's Better to Forgive) off of her second Hebrew CD. The highly anticipated album is set to be released in early 2008 with the release of her English language CD (produced by TJ Cases) soon following.
