    1Underwhelmed [1998]

Steve Westfield was born and raised and lives and rocks in Western Massachusetts. His teenage and college years at Umass centered around the indie rock music scene about to spew out the Pixies and Dinosaur Jr. in the early eighties. He was an energetic and creative force behind the early Grange hall and Polish club and Bear's Head Lodge (a storage bin) underground punk, hardcore, and no-wave shows.
The friendly Do It Yourself nature of the "happy valley", and the many students in the area (Umass, Amherst, Smith, Hampshire, and Mt Holyoke) set the seed for a fruitful music scene that would inspire the world (remember alt rock?).
Steve's first group, the Pajama Slave Dancers, ( a Punkpop tear em up with sarcasm combo), formed a nucleus that broke open the local bars to original music and brought major labels to town. Many LP's(!) CD's, blood sweat and beer moshfests, stopped shows, shredded stuffed bears, 15 years later, they stopped.
Next was a 10 year run with the Steve Westfield Slow Band signed to Subpop's Glitterhouse label in Germany. Musicianship and critical acclaim combined to keep the alt-country lo-fi-sters busy throughout Europe in the 90's. Steve's lastest release, "Alone with the Lonesome Brothers" was released in 2010 only to CDbaby.com.
He remains and influential and inspiring guy.
