AboutSumo Cyco is a female-fronted, four-piece rock, metal band originated from Hamilton, Canada whose current members are: lead singer/former female soloist Skye Sweetnam, who now goes by her alter-ego name 'SEVER', Matt 'MD13' Drake on lead guitar/vocals, Oscar Anesetti on guitar/vocals and Joey Muha on drums. (Former members were Ken 'THOR' Corke on bass guitar (who'd worked with Skye in the past), Andy 'WOLF' Joseph, Ryan 'LEGS' Leger and Matt Trozzi on drums).
Sumo Cyco launched as a band in March 2011, opening their first show for Hollywood Undead. Over the years, they've developed a strong online presence as they have continued to direct and fund their own music videos as well as their promotional films. Their music sonically blends with themes of punk rock, metal/with the use of heavy metal guitars, blast beats, and dance hall rhythms.
They deliver banging riffs and a real gang feeling - turning into an energy blizzard when they take the stage!
Some achievements and awards Sumo Cyco has won are: Best Female-Fronted Band at the Toronto Independent Music Awards of 2012 and at Indie Week Toronto in 2013.
In their discography, the band has independently released two albums: Lost in Cyco City [2014] and Opus Mar [2017].
From January 2020, Sumo Cyco signed with the label, Napalm Records and had released their third official album, Initiation on May 7, 2021.
