AboutThe Japanese House is the stage name of Amber Bain, a British indie pop singer, songwriter and musician. She was born on July 13, 1995, in Buckinghamshire, England. Bain started making music at the age of 11 and began uploading her original compositions to SoundCloud under the moniker "The Japanese House" in 2012.
In 2015, The Japanese House released her debut EP Pools to Bathe In which was produced by The 1975's Matty Healy and George Daniel. The EP's dreamy synth-pop sound and Bain's soft, ethereal vocals drew critical acclaim and comparisons to artists like Bon Iver, Imogen Heap and Beach House. She followed it up with the Clean EP in 2015 and Swim Against the Tide in 2016.
