AboutThe Panic Squad is a New York City based punk rock band which originated in 1978. Original members were Bobby Lawlor guitar and vocals (aka Norman Normal), Andy Gray guitar and vocals, Mike Maxwell on bass guitar, and Louie Veltry on drums. This arrangement of players recorded an EP with Tom Duffy engineering and Giorgio Gomelsky directing the final mixes. The ensuing EP was released on Whirled Records in 1980.
The Panic Squad was a high intensity combo which came on like commandos wearing black uniforms with boots and red stars. When they were picked up by Connie DeNave management, the group was promoted as a power pop band. They were put into a studio in upstate New York and layed down 17 tracks for an album release. By this time Billy Good had entered the band on bass guitar.
Keith Allen was hired as producer and the band proceeded to finish the recording in about a week. The band was not pleased with the final results, as the sound was watered down and thinned out to where it was barely recognizable as the same band. These recordings were never released.
