AboutIn 1997 six young men in Umeå, Sweden, felt the urge to start a band. They had all played together before, and knew each other since way back. However they didn't nurture any big dreams of stardom and success, as so many other young men who form bands do. They simply wanted to have fun and in a humble way try to make the music they wanted, but was missing, in their record collections.
The Perishers was born. Initially the band rehearsed on borrowed instruments in a borrowed rehearsal room in a damp basement, next to all the cool hard-core bands Umeå had back then. As time passed the boys did some shows in their hometown and recorded some demos. The band slowly improved and, in the shade of their louder neighbor bands, developed their own sound.
In early 2001 The Perishers were offered to sign a record deal with MNW/Nons, which they later did. However, it wasn't a very easy decision. At this time the band members, since two years down to four, lived in different cities and hadn't done any shows or rehearsals for a long time. Luckily for everyone involved the boys came to their senses and started to record their first album, From Nothing To One (released in Jan 2002) later that year. The album, recorded at a tight schedule at Second Home, Umeå, received great reviews and gave the band the opportunity to do some touring. In Sweden, as well as in Norway, Holland and Taiwan.
In November 2002 the band left for Skellefteå and Rumble Road Studio to start recording their second album (released in Dec 2003). Just as on their first album, and some demos before that, they collaborated with excellent producer Henrik Oja. Henrik, who is a member of both Heed and The Spacious Mind, is also the lucky owner of Second Home. The album, named Let There be Morning, consists of ten great songs built upon the delicate Perishers sound first introduced on From nothing to one. However the new album presents a more confident band, a band with even higher pretensions.
