ABOUT THE BAND:
After parting ways with a former band, Greg McGowan began passing his time by writing songs in his living room where TIME & DISTANCE was born. Drawing upon his own heartbreak and triumphs, McGowan wrote songs that were what Black Velvet Magazine called, "heartfelt and intelligent."
Based in Charleston, West Virginia, McGowan never expected TIME & DISTANCE to perform beyond his own his living room. However, performances in his living room grew into shows at local venues which eventually led McGowan to record a demo. Once the demo began to circulate, TIME & DISTANCE could be found sharing the stage with bands such as Taking Back Sunday, One Line Drawing, The Starting Line, Midtown, The Movielife, Armor for Sleep, A Static Lullaby, The Bled, and many more.
In June 2003, Time and Distance embarked on a first US tour. After spending much of the fall on the road, guitarist Derek Reese joined the band in November 2003, and TIME & DISTANCE became a two- piece. February 2004- TIME & DISTANCE expands once again, only weeks before leaving on another two month US tour, into a four piece band. Guitarist Derek Reese, bassist Aaron Squared and drummer Ryan Ware each compliment McGowan's style and fervor for music. With each show, in each town, more and more kids seem to identify with the stripped down arrangements and heart on your sleeve compositions are the signature of TIME & DISTANCE.
There's a little bit of all of us in TIME & DISTANCE—broken hearts and broken dreams; missed opportunities; growing up, beaten but not broken; down, but not for the count; back up and ready to go again. Each song is like reading an entry from a diary that could have been written by any one of us.
