AboutIn the short 8 1/2 months since We're All Just Passing Through released their debut EP, "Bedroom Recordings, Vol. 1", the album which The Unsigned Find states to include "three brilliantly done tracks", over 1,000 downloads of the album had already been accounted for. Performances at CMJ Music Marathon, radio airplay, a music video for the single "Nobody Picks A Fist Fight In New York City", coverage on television and in The New York Times and Long Island Pulse, and being included on Paradiddle Records "Best of Long Island: 2010" CD have definitely helped achieve all of this. However, after seeing the band live, you realize the true reason why success has quickly found this band from Long Island, New York.
Having started off as a solo project by Travis Johnides, former guitarist for Long Island punk band The Goodwill, We're All Just Passing Through eventually became a duo which includes his sister, Alexa Johnides. Travis took his experiences with The Goodwill, which consisted of releasing albums nationwide and touring with and opening for bands such as My Chemical Romance, Fallout Boy, AFI, The All-American Rejects, fellow Long Islanders Taking Back Sunday and Brand New, and more, and applied it to his songwriting and overall enthusiasm towards his new project. "I've always been blown away by the thought of writing a song in my bedroom and having someone else eventually listen to it miles and miles away. I've always dreamt of writing, recording, and releasing my own songs, so this band has been a dream come true."
We're All Just Passing Through released "Bedroom Recordings, Vol. 2", another 3 song EP, on June 21, 2011. Then, on December 21, 2011, they released the acclaimed video for "Everybody Needs A Friend", the first single off the album. Travis states that this recording is "less moody then Vol. 1." "It's an extremely upbeat, positive album and we are very excited for everyone to hear it." And as Snobs Music stated in their "Bedroom Recordings, Vol.1" review, "Adding the "Volume 1" qualifier to the title indicates that there should be more volumes to come. That would be a very good thing."
Most recently, We're All Just Passing Through released their album "Live at the Homegrown Café'" on August 7, 2012. As stated on the albums cdbaby web page, "this live recording proves why We're All Just Passing Through, which consists of brother and sister Travis and Alexa Johnides, are an up-and-coming band deserving your full attention."
