About Once upon a time around the late 80's, early '90's.... there was this little kid with a big mouth and a big personality....who grew up to be a big kid with a big mouth and a big personality named Ryan Marshall Lawhon the 1st. Once a man of basketball, he was asked to play bass for his youth group and soon became the man of worship.
After being handed the acoustic guitar, he found he could learn to play instruments very quickly, and soon became lead guitarist as well as lead vocalist. After multiple turnovers in the pastoral staff, Ryan found himself without a church to call home, no music to play, and had to learn to be still and explore his musical journey. He began writing, singing, and playing as many instruments as he could fit in his room. In May 06 he purchased a cheap 8 track recording system off ebay and there he began the White Apple Tree project you're experiencing today.
White Apple Tree now has over 2,000,000 plays and 1,850,000 views on myspace, as well as almost 40,000 friends. Stylistically he is often compared with Shiny Toy Guns, Coldplay and The Faint, blending blasting dance beats with melodic piano and vocal melodies. Though much of his EP is calm, his live show is a high energy, 3 man performance that brings every audience to the floor.
Ryan is now in the process of recording his Debut Full Length album at Headway Studios in Orange County. The Album is being co-produced by Ryan Marshall Lawhon the 1st and Steven Mcclintock. W.A.T.'s music can be heard on various compilation albums, Gossip Girl season 2, numerous action sport movies, and many upcoming MTV productions.
