AboutIn mid-2011, Alison Wonderland entered EMI's inaugural 'She Can DJ' competition, where her skills and passion earned her a global recording contract. Days later, she was on a plane to Ibiza to play parties at Pasha, Café Mambo and Ibiza Rocks as part of the dance music Mecca's closing weekend celebrations.

After that, she rushed home to play Field Day, the ARIA Awards and jump aboard Australia's largest dance festival tour, Stereosonic, to play in Brisbane and Sydney. It was in Sydney where she caught the attention of fellow tour mate and UK radio legend Annie Mac: "Just listened to a girl, yes a GIRL DJ, play the best party set I've heard in a long time".

The highlights kept coming with a coveted slot at the Grammy Awards after-party at Capital Records' iconic Los Angeles office in February. "I had Katy Perry coming up to me during my set, which went for an extra 45 minutes because people wouldn't leave the dance floor!" she recalls. "The cops came to shut it down and I felt really badass."

She backed up a fortnight later for the Brit Awards after-party, playing tunes on a boat on the Thames to the likes of Gorillaz's Damon Albarn, Noel Gallagher and Coldplay's Chris Martin. Not that she really noticed: "I was just in my own little world with a smile on my face," she says.
