AboutCarly Rae Jepsen (born November 21, 1985) is a Juno-nominated Canadian singer/songwriter from Mission, B.C.. In the summer of 2007, she placed third in the fifth season of Canadian Idol. She was also a part of the Canadian Idol Top 3 concert tour.

After completing the tour, Jepsen retreated to B.C. to focus on writing, recording and completing her band. Her demos attracted a flurry of attention, and she was eventually signed a joint management deal with Simkin Artist Management and Dexter Entertainment. A deal with Fontana/Maple Music quickly followed, leading Jepsen into the studio with producer/writer Ryan Stewart.

Jepsen's debut album, Tug Of War, was released on September 30, 2008. One of the songs off the album, Sweet Talker, released as a single on iTunes on September 16, 2008, had received radio airplay on various stations across Canada as she performed it as her Canadian Idol audition.

A music video for the album's title trackTug Of War was released in January 2009. Bucket, her second single, was released in May 2009, and the video for Sour Candy, a duet with Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench who helped produce some of her songs later on for her next album. All of Jepsen's music videos on the album were directed by Ben Knechtel.

Carly's EP Curiosity was released on February 14th, 2012, produced by Ryan Stewart. Its lead single, Call Me Maybe was produced by Josh Ramsay from Marianas Trench and co-written by Jepsen herself, Ramsay and Tavish Crowe.
Call Me Maybe was released on September 21, 2011 topping the charts globally in many countries and officially became the first song by a Canadian artist to reach #1 on the digital music chart since Baby by Justin Bieber in January 2010; with Bieber helping to promote the song by posting a now since deleted video on his YouTube channel (now resurfaced on there by someone else) around early 2012 which featured celebrities like his then girlfriend Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale, Carlos PenaVega from Big Time Rush and many more including Carly herself lip-syncing, dancing and goofing around to Jepsen's song. The song itself resulted to being the 'highest selling single of 2012', titled the "Song of the Summer" from Billboard magazine and MTV naming it as the "Song of the Year" in December 2012.
That same year, she joined Owl City on the song Good Time which reached within the top 10 on the music charts in several countries - continuing the success off her lead single.
Both singles were then included on Jepsen's highly acclaimed album, Kiss.

2015 - 2017 — Carly released her third studio album, E·MO·TION with lead single I Really Like You peaking at #14 in Canada and the top five in the UK. The album received positive reviews; appearing on many publications' year-end album lists and attracted a more mature audience to her music. E.M.O.T.I.O.N. peaked at #8 in Canada and #16 on the US Billboard 200. Due to the album's success, Carly later came out with E•MO•TION: Side B in 2016, which included eight-cut tracks from the original album.

Jepsen also embarked on other projects like playing Frenchy in Grease Live!, Fox's live television presentation of the musical "Grease" in January 2016; she recorded the theme song for the Netflix series "Fuller House", a remake of the theme to the original series "Full House". She also lent her voice in voicing the character Odette in the movie "Ballerina" alongside Elle Fanning and released a stand-alone single, Cut to the Feeling that was played and featured in the movie's credits.

2019 - 2020 — Her fourth album, Dedicated, came out on May 17, 2019 with the album's standard edition having 13 tracks, and 2 additional tracks added to the deluxe edition. On May 21, 2020, the companion album, Dedicated - Side B was released, containing twelve additional tracks from Dedicated.

On October 30, 2020, Jepsen released "It's Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries" which peaked at #11 on the US Holiday Digital Songs chart.

Jepsen released her fifth studio album titled, The Loneliest Time on October 21, 2022.
