AboutAurora Aksnes, credited mononymously as AURORA, is a Norwegian singer, born on June 15, 1996 in Stavanger, Norway.

Her earliest musical memory is of finding an electric piano in her parents' attic and being fascinated by the music she could produce. Her parents never pushed her to pursue music either as a career or as a hobby but as Aurora grew older, she moved on from mimicking classical music to composing her own.

She wrote music for herself as early as age 9. When she was 16, her song "Puppet" was (without her consent) uploaded to a streaming website. It became popular and was noticed by a management company and subsequently officially published under her real name. Soon afterwards, she signed to Decca and started releasing her music under her stage name AURORA.
