OBorn Lianne Charlotte Barnes (August 23rd, 1989) in London, England, Lianne La Havas is an English folk and soul singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. She began singing at the age of seven, citing her parents' diverse taste in music as having the biggest influence on her own. Her mother, a Jamaican, played with Jill Scott and Mary J. Blige, and her father (Greek) taught her the basics of guitar and piano. Lianne's stage name is an adaptation derived from her father's, Henry Vlahavas's, surname.
Her career began to take off in 2010 when she sang backing vocals for Paloma Faith, after being introduced by a mutual friend, and signed to Warner Bros. Records. After spending two years developing her songwriting skills, Lianne's debut album Is Your Love Big Enough? (2012) was released to positive reviews from critics. It also earned her a nomination for the BBC's Sound of 2012 poll and an award for the iTunes Album of The Year 2012. Her official debut single Lost and Found was released in the UK on April 30th, 2012.
