About"Euzen" is an old Greek word/expression made by Aristoteles. Directly translated "eu" means "to" and "zen" means consciousness, Aristoteles explained the meaning of Euzen to be the path to the good life and that the good life is to fulfil your true nature. When we interpret this into music, Euzen follows.
Maria Franz is from Borre, Norway, she discovered her musicality when she was 13, being introduced to folk and world music and suddenly realizing she could create rhythms and harmonies that no one had taught her. This discovery turned out to become a precious, lifelong companion.
In Euzen Maria does the vocals, which she loves. Especially the harmonies, rawness, soft highs and angry lows, she also does the loop, writes the lyrics, and is often found engulfed in composing tunes with Christopher.
Christopher Juul is da Maestro! Christopher is from Copenhagen, Denmark, he started composing before he knew how to write, being the kind of (annoying) child who just understood the connection between harmonies all by himself. A little later, computers entered society, and the possibilities of creating electronic music caught his full attention. Meaning: FULL attention. They speak the precise same language.
From the outside, Christopher plays the keys & electronics. But if you come closer, he is producing, recording and mixing an eternal well of compositions, creating the Euzen sound. Christopher also takes care of all the graphic design, and most recently developed his talent for video production (see the videos for Judged By and You're On!)
Harald Juul is from Denmark/Germany, and has been playing all sorts of string instruments for about 40 years, starting with blues and rock, and moving on to being one of the first amongst those who embraced progressive rock from the very beginning in Copenhagen. His curiosity is still endless towards new sounds and gear and Euzen benefits on his many years of experience with playing with different projects. In Euzen Harald plays acoustic and electronic guitar, mandolin, gozheng and banjo.
Kristian Uhre is from Hvidovre, Denmark. He has been playing drums since he was 12 years old, and is now an experienced and well renowned drummer and electronical percussionist. Euzens drummer needs to think outside the box, and Kristian has a natural access to variation and new ideas. Nothing is impossible or too demanding. He embraces all the challenges Euzen presents with the great variety of beats, electronical sounds and insane shifts, with both guts and skills. AND he sings.
