À propos deJoey Welz is a legendary musician that has contributed heavily to Rock and Roll and was part of its inception, playing his left handed boogie style piano and laying down the blue print of riffs used subsequently by Rock Keyboard Musicain ever since. His first recordings were with his band the JAY ROCKERS out of Baltimore FOLLOWING IN 1959 WITH HIS FIRST NATIONAL RECORDS, BOPPIN' THE STROLL b/w THE MYSTERY OF LOVE. THEN IN 1964, HE SIGNED AS AN ARTIST WITH CANADIAN AMERICAN RECORDS and had his first top 20 record; HEY LITTLE MOONBEAM. It was during this time (1962-1966) that BILL HALEY HIRED HIM AS HIS COMET PIANIO MAN, REPLACING JOHNNY GRANDE. ALSO IN THE LATE 60S, HE WROTE AND RECORDED AN ALBUM WITH LINK WRAY entitled: Listen to the Voices That Want to be Free, following with an album he did with ROY BUCHANAN, REVIVAL FIRES. When Haley passed away in 1981, Welz reformed the COMETS and played a musical tribute to his Idol on the NBC TV SHOW, TOMORROW, with TOM SNYDER. THEN HE TOURED ALL OVER THE COUNTRY WITH BILL HALEY's COMETS AND HIS FRIEND AL RAPPA, THE ORIGINAL WALKING BASS MAN WITH BILL HALEY. HE HAD 10 TOP 10 COUNTRY HITS IN THE 90s on CASHBOX MAGAZINE'S HOT 100, after scoring Rock Hits in the 80s on his revised CAPRICE INTERNATIONAL RECORDS.Songs like ROCKIN' IN AMERICA & IN MY CAR turned a lot of heads during the 80s metal years. HE IS STILL WRITING AND RECORDING TODAY AND NOW OWNS THE LABEL, CANADIAN AMERICAN RECORDS and has just released his 100th album entitled CASINO LIFE AND A GREATEST HITS PACKAGE,LIFESPAN, containing all of his original 45 hits from 1959 to9....You might say that JOEY IS STILL ROCKIN' AROUND THE CLOCK....
