AboutThe key character of the Yugoslav rock scene and one of our most renowned artists abroad. Born on 22 March 1950 in Sarajevo, he begun his career as a bass guitar player in the local band "Bestije" (1966).
From 1967 to 1970 he was the member of "Kodeks" ("Codex"), a band that played throughout Italy in 1969. He then played the guitar as a member of the underground trio known as "Mica, Goran and Zoran" (1971). From 1972, he was the frontman of "Jutro" ("The Morning").
With "Bijelo Dugme" ("The White Button"), he was a raging success on stages throughout former Yugoslavia, he broke all existing discographic records and imposed rock'n'roll as a lifestyle to generations of his followers.
From 1980 also a successful producer, together with Kornelije Kovac he is to be credited for Zdravko Colic's career.
Fundamentally an artist of rocker-like sensibility, he was always open to all influences and was one of the first Yugoslav musicians to experiment with ethno-sound, which was not to become popular until much later.
As Emir Kusturica's friend, he started working on film, and soon became one of the leading film music composers in Europe.
