Are you new to the site? Wondering where to start on the forum?

Know the rules

Everyone who uses the site, should know the site rules. There are the general member rules, and the rules of the forum. If you want to fit in, make friends, and not get in trouble, it is recommendable to give these a quick look first.

Creating a topic

You can create a thread introducing yourself. Go to categories and click "Hi, I'm new!", then click the yellow "add topic" button on the top right. Choose a name for your thread, maybe 'Hi I am Sophie' or something like that. Then type a bit about yourself. Make it interesting so people will reply! This is a good way to make friends. Don't make a thread just saying "Hi, anyone wanna chat?" because there are already many "chat" topics on the forum, and you might annoy people.

Popular threads, and good places to post

There are some threads that are the most popular on LSI, like:

Randomness Is The Answer

I'm Bored - Someone Online?

How Are You Doing?

As well as popular game threads like:

What Song Are You Listening To?

And others in the Games category.

Note that all of the linked threads above are outdated and closed, as we can't update the help page every time a new incarnation of these threads is made. With that said, these only serve as examples, and you can find the currently active thread by going to the forum board that each example is in.

Also, on the forum, you can use the "Active Topics" page to see all the topics that have been posted in most recently.

Sticky topics

There are a number of "sticky topics" in all the categories. These are topics that are made to stay at the top of the page so that everyone sees them, and are normally there because they're the most popular topics, or so that people don't make duplicates, for example, "chat topics". You will recognize these topics from the small "S" on the right of their listing. These are normally good places to post.

Hot topics

Hot topics that are topics that are most read and posted in. You will notice them in the forum by the red H to the right of the topic.
