AboutJesy Nelson rose to prominence in 2011 as a contestant and former member/one-quarter of Little Mix, who were the first ever girl group to win on the singing talent show, X Factor.
After almost nine years of being in the group (dealing with constant scrutiny from the media over her weight and mental health problems) Nelson parted ways to pursue a solo career, signing with Polydor Records.
She gravitated towards the R&B genre which was reminiscent of the late 90's/early '00s of her upbringing music taste - a far cry from 'Little Mix' music as she teamed with Nicki Minaj to release her debut single, Boyzj in late 2021. The single didn't chart well as hoped due to the following controversy and drama relating to her former girl bandmates and with her label pushing back the release of her supposed 'finished' debut album.
As of August 2022, Nelson was reportedly dropped from Polydor. However, she's continuing to venture off releasing music independently.
