AboutKyo is a French rock band, formed by Benoît Poher (vocals, born on June 27, 1979 in Mantes-la-Jolie), Florian Dubos (guitar & backing vocals, born on March 26, 1980 in Versailles), Fabien Dubos (drums, born on June 3, 1978 in Versailles) & Nicolas Chassagne (guitar & backing vocals, born on December 24, 1979 in Paris). They met in secondary school in 1993 and founded a band.
Their name, Kyo, found in manga, means "capital" & also "universal sound that leads activities of life" in Japanese. They started covering songs of their favourite bands : Pearl Jam, Rage Against The Machine, Nirvana, Soundgarden... In 2000, Kyo signed to Jive & released their debut album, which wasn't successful. They have been supporting acts for Pascal Obispo & Indochine. In 2002, they released their second album Le Chemin & the title-song, a duet with Dutch singer Sita, was their first success. In 2004, they received 4 NRJ Music Awards & 3 Victoires de la Musique & released their third album 300 Lésions, with strong lyrics. In 2006, they wrote a song for the association Fight Aids Monaco, "L'Or De Nos Vies". In 2007, Kyo took a break & Benoît & Florian founded another band, Empyr.
After their hiatus, Kyo came back in 2014 with "Le Graal", first single from their fourth album L'Équilibre. In 2021, drummer Fabien Dubos left the band and was replaced by Jocelyn Moze, from Vegastar & Empyr.
