RólAlicia Stamkos (born 23 September 1990), known professionally Aleesia, is a Canadian singer, songwriter and musician. She rocketed to fame after she was featured on the single Gold Skies produced by Sander van Doorn, Martin Garrix, and DVBBS. She has released her own solo albums as well, including Who's That Girl and Girl Talk.

Aleesia was born on 23 September 1990 in Toronto. She has two sisters.

In 2010, she released her debut single "Angel."

In 2012, her song "Kiss It Bye Bye" was nominated for the MuchMusic Video Award for Best Watched Video.

Before Aleesia could even walk or talk, her family knew its extroverted youngest member was destined to be an entertainer. Having hammed it up since the age of four growing up in the Toronto suburb of Unionville-Markham, Aleesia can be seen in home movies singing with more intention and purpose than your average kid warbling along to nursery rhymes. When Aleesia was six, her oldest sister taught her the words to Celine Dion's epic ballad "My Heart Will Go On" and sent her out into the living room to sing it for the rest of the family. A star was born. "That was pretty much it for me," Aleesia says. "I got bit by the performance bug early."

The passion Aleesia showed at an early age has already propelled this dynamic singer, songwriter, and dancer, now 21 years old, to early success in her native Canada. Her four independently released singles, "Bubble Gum," "Headlights," "Angel" and "Life Of The Party" have each earned nationwide Top 40 airplay, landing her invitations to perform as an opening act for such artists as Bruno Mars, Adam Lambert, Kardinal Offishall, Far East Movement, and Girlicious. Aleesia's sultry good looks and fashion-forward personal style have also led to her becoming the face of international clothing retailer Urban Behavior's Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter 2011 campaigns.

Her achievements have laid the groundwork for the upcoming North American release of Aleesia's single "Kiss It Bye Bye," followed by the Canadian release of her pop/dance debut album Girl Talk, a showcase for Aleesia's powerful voice, relatable lyrics, and knack for conjuring irresistible pop melodies. Having co-written most of the tracks, Aleesia turned to such top-notch songwriters and producers as Bangladesh (Rihanna, Ludacris, Lil Wayne), The Stereotypes (Justin Bieber, Far East Movement), Rob Wells (Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez), The Dream Machine (Britney Spears), VicPark (Massari, Neverest), and Kuya Productions (Nelly, Akon) to ready songs like "Strut," "Life of the Party," and "Not That Girl," not only for the pop charts, but also for the dancefloor, while beat-driven ballads "Lullaby" and "Kiss It Bye-Bye" tap into Aleesia's more emotional side.

"Dance-driven pop music really speaks to me because of my dance background," says Aleesia, who trained in many different styles, including ballet, modern, jazz, tap, hip- hop, and contemporary, beginning at age 8 before turning her focus solely to singing at age 17. "Dance is a huge part of my performance, so if I'm listening to a track and I can't imagine something visual to go along with it then it's not going to work. With that being said, there has to be more to it: I also want my music to be relatable, because I know that music has the power to change people and bring happiness to their lives. My first-ever voice teacher once told me that every word is a diamond. You have to pay attention to every word that you're singing, because each one means something. I'm a firm believer in lyrics really speaking to people."

That need to connect is what led to Aleesia's decision to call the album Girl Talk, because "that's exactly what it is," she says. "I'm a young, independent girl and these songs have developed through my teenage years. They're about things that you talk to your best friends about. There are the party songs about feeling fierce when you go out with your friends, like 'Strut' and 'Life of the Party'; the empowerment anthems, like 'Not That Girl,' where you assert your independence and strength; and the songs about boys and relationships, like 'Make-Up' and 'Glow.' It's all girl talk. I write about things I've been through and what I think people can relate to and want to sing along to. If someone can listen to my album and feel like even one song speaks to them then I'll be 100 percent satisfied."

Aleesia's confidence comes from her strong family background and being encouraged to pursue her dreams from a young age. When her parents caught her camped out in their bedroom choreographing her own routines to the songs from Grease and Show Boat, they enrolled her in dance classes at Toronto's prestigious Vlad's Dance Company, followed by vocal lessons from various teachers. In high school, Aleesia began writing her own songs and developing her sound until she felt she had a song ready for radio. That song was "Bubble Gum," which launched her career in Canada when it soared into the Top 40, followed by "Headlights," which hit the Top 50 on many 2010 Top 40 year-end polls, including Top 10 at Edmonton's influential Hot 107 radio station.

Having achieved radio airplay as an independent artist, Aleesia set her sights on the U.S., making several trips to Los Angeles in early 2011 to connect with various producers and songwriters. During a visit in February, she met Rodney Jerkins and the two entered the studio. "It was so crazy to be sitting beside Rodney and watch him create the track from scratch," Aleesia says. "He's a creative genius." She also had the opportunity of writing and working with some of her other favourite producers, Bangladesh, and The Stereotypes.

"I think that Girl Talk definitely shows my versatility, but at the same time it defines my sound," Aleesia says. "You can dance to every single song, even the ballads, which is important to me because it's a huge part of what I do. I love being able to share my music, along with my dance, and just entertain people. Honestly, it's my destiny. It's what I was meant to do. It's who I am."
