Despite acting and singing since 2002 (up till 2004 on the children's show Barney), she shot to fame starring as Mitchie Torres in Disney Channel's Camp Rock (movie) in 2008.
After her newfound Disney starlet recognition and talent, Demi Lovato then released her debut album, Don't Forget, in September 2008. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 selling over 89,000 copies in the first week. Lovato's second album, Here We Go Again, was released in July 2009 and debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 selling over 108,000 copies in the first week.
During the summer of 2009, Lovato took part in "Disney's Friends For Change" - a pro-social "green" initiative project alongside then- fellow Disney stars Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Jonas Brothers. Together, they released the charity single, Send It On, in August 2009. Lovato even landed her own Disney Channel show as the main character 'Sonny' in Sonny With A Chance [2010] (tv show).
In 2010, she performed Make A Wave with her Camp Rock co-star Joe Jonas for the movie "Oceans" and they both reprised their roles for Camp Rock 2 - The Final Jam (movie). Lovato also guest stared on "Grey's Anatomy" that same year.
In September 2011, she released her third album, Unbroken with the first single, Skyscraper, becoming an anthem towards Lovato's resilience with her ongoing struggles of drug addiction, an eating disorder and being bipolar that was brought to the public's attention.
