AboutJames Bay (born 4 September 1990) is a British singer-songwriter and guitarist. He has released three EPs, The Dark of the Morning (2013), Let It Go (2014) and Hold Back the River (2014) and the album Chaos and the calm (2015). He grew up in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, and attended Hitchin Boys' School before studying at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music. In 2015, Bay received the Brit Awards "Critics' Choice" award.
His style of music can best be described as a mix of indie pop, soul and alternative rock. With a little touch of melancholy.
Bay recorded a cover of the Tom Petty song "King's Highway" for the 2017 Disney/Pixar film Cars 3. It is heard in the film and is included on the official soundtrack album.
Bay is an advocate for the international non-profit, WaterAid.
