AboutKlymaxx is an all-female pop/RnB band formed in 1979 in Los Angeles, California. Bernadette Cooper was the leader of the band and created the name. It consisted of five other members, Lorena "Lungs" Stewart (lead vocals), Cheryl Cooley (guitar), Lynn Malsby (keyboards), Robbin Grider (keyboards), and Joyce "Fenderella" Irby (bass/vocals/producer), who joined the band later on. Their first album, "Never Underestimate the Power of a Woman" peaked # 74 in 1981 on Billboard 100. "Wild Girls" their sophomore album peaked #78 in 1982 on Billboard 100. Their third album "Meeting In the Ladies Room" put them at #18 on Billboard 200 and #9 on the RnB album chart. Their hit single "The Men All Pause" reached #5 on the RnB, #80 on Billboard Hot 100, and #9 on Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. "I Miss You" their third single peaked #5 on Hot 100, #11, RnB Charts, and #1 on the adult contemporary charts. In 1986, their "Man Size Love" appears on the movie soundtrack "Running Scared." Later in 1986, Bernadette Cooper departs the group to produce and manage for the group Madame X, and pursue her album "Drama According to Bernadette Cooper," featuring Teena Marie and Joyce Irby on a couple of tracks. Next was Joyce "Fenderella" Irby and Lynn Malsby to leave the group in 1989. Joyce then moved to Atlanta record her solo album "Maximum Thrust." It was then down to three members Lorena Lungs, Robbin Grider, and Cheryl Cooley. They recorded their last album "The Maxx Is Back" in 1990 before splitting up. Later in 1994, Irby and Cooley gathered back original members Lorena Lungs and Robbin Grider along with other female musicians to record the album "One Day" with Bernadette Cooper featured on a few tracks. Babyface is credited writing the song "All I Think About Is You." The band, minus Grider featured on an episode of VH1 Bands Reunited in 2004. The band did not want Cooley to participate due to past actions she performed with the band name, without the group's consent. November 2009, they did an episode of Unsung. There are now three different Klymaxx Bands pioneered by Bernadette Cooper, Joyce Irby, and Cheryl Cooley.
