AboutSpawned directly from the same venomousness which created The Blood
Brothers, Neon Blonde is a fresh new take on the slice of pure, cold and
non-sugarcoated truth guaranteed to emerge when Johnny Whitney is
holding the lyric pen. After a stint in an underground band known as
Soiled Doves, Whitney became one of the two dueling vocalists within
the well-received group The Blood Brothers (alongside Jordan Billie).
After 4 full-length albums, he, along with percussion artist Mark Gajadhar,
formed the so-called "side project" known as Neon Blonde. The group's
lyrics and vocals are strongly reminiscent of The Blood Brothers, however,
melodically, the songs have a more melodic feel; Neon Blonde utilizes
synthesizers and drum machines which tend to take the place of the harsh,
banging guitars signature to the Blood Brothers sound. The use of complex
imagery with sharp whit, added into a powerful, driving message, Neon
Blonde's lyrics are truly what places them in a cut above modern rock and
alternative top-forty artists. The first album, "Chandeliers in the Savannah"
will be in stores on September 13, 2005.
