OmDee Dee Bridgewater (real name Denise Eileen Garrett) is a soul, disco & jazz singer, born on May 27, 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee. She grew up in Flint, Michigan. In 1970, she married trumpeter Cecil Bridgewater & moved to New York.
From 1976 to 1980, she released some high class disco soul albums, accompanied by top session musicicans.
She worked with many of the leading jazz musicians of the day such as Sonny Rollins & Dizzy Gillespie as well as appearing in the musical The Wiz as 'Glinda The Good Witch'.
In 1986, she moved to Paris where she continued to act & record.
