AboutIn 2000 Finland's frozen grounds spat out a bunch of Norsemen who flocked together to become what is now known as one of Finland's most renowned metal-outfits: NORTHER.
Petri Lindroos (who also joined Ensiferum as lead vocalist/guitarist in 2004) and some friends had made their first attempts at walking the metal earth under the moniker Requiem back in 1996 until Kristian Ranta (guitar) joined forces in 2000. That's when NORTHER saw the light of day and released their first demo which subsequently led to a deal with Spinefarm Records. Shortly after that first success the guys from the cold north allied with Jukka Koskinen (bass, also in Wintersun) and Tuomas Planman (keyboards) to finally create a stable line-up for NORTHER. Within a few years NORTHER became one of the most promising Finnish bands combining the best of Death, Black and Thrash Metal with haunting melodies.
